European Day of Languages (EDL)
Knowledge of languages is the doorway to wisdom
The European Day of Languages (EDL) is observed on 26 September every year , as proclaimed by the Council of Europe on 6 December 2001, at the end of the European Year of Languages (2001), which had been jointly organized by the Council of Europe and the EU (European Union). Its aim is to encourage language learning across Europe.
EDL (European Day of Languages) is a means of promoting awareness among the general public of the importance of language learning and protecting the linguistic heritage.
